Chapter History

In 1971, Marjorie Murray, the Chapter's Organizing Regent, became a member of the DAR. Seven years later, she and several ladies saw the need for a chapter in the Brandon area and accepted the mission. Named after one of the most outstanding Choctaw chiefs, Chief Red Jacket, the Chapter was officially organized on October 28, 1978, and started with only 25 members.

Today, Chief Red Jacket Chapter includes members from all over Rankin County, neighboring counties and from out of state. We look forward to continued growth as we remain an active chapter in the Heartland District, MSSDAR.
